Swimming Lessons

Is it just me or has this summer FLOWN by? Where has it gone, really? The last few summers the boys have taken 2 sessions of swimming lessons (since they seem to take after me when it comes to their swimming abilities). Well, this year we were lucky to get in one session, and it happened to be the very last session they offered. Brock, Kaleb and their cousin Bryson ended up in the same class.... and, well, I felt very bad for the poor teachers, Bobbette, Terry and Aubrey. They were so good with the boys and I really did see improvement. I just wish we could pass this level they seem to have been stuck at for 2 years? I'm sure if I would have been on the ball and got them in two sessions, back to back, they could have passed, but once again, I was a slacker mom! They really do like the water, but they like it much more with their life jackets on? Maybe next year will be the magic year? They had fun, that's all that's important, right?

Hey at least you got your kids in something!!! Dont feel bad! I cannot decide what to do with Shae on that spectrum. Don't worry about them not passing levels. It is about having fun, not being scared of the water and learning that is comfortable to them! Yes, the summer has flown by so fast, but honestly, I am SSOOO ready for 2008 to be over. I have a feeling that 2009 is going to be great! Have fun swimming! -Suzanne

I agree that the summer flew by. I am glad that we took the kids swimming today, we just need to keep doing it every week or so and next summer lessons will be a breeze!

I agree with Lisa. Just keep them swimming while you can. I think I might put Tenney in a winter lesson. They offer them up here, and then they get a fun break from the snow. We'll see though. She'll be in dance, and piano also.

That's awesome of Brock with no life jacket! Big step!

We had Trae in lessons last year. He didn't pass his level and was really timid about swimming. We try to go at least twice a week now and we have a hard time getting him out of the water. As the old saying goes 'Practice makes perfect.' The important thing is just that everyone has a good time doing it.

And yes, the summer has flown by. Trae doesn't start until Aug. 25th-not really soon enough but not far enough away either.

I have to agree with you, the summer has flown bye. I wanted to go swimming this year but didn't get the chance. It looks like your boys had a lot of fun. The will get better at it.

Slacker? I think not. I didn't even put my kids in swimming this year. The summer just didn't seem long enough to fit it all in. Hopefully next year!!
