{Flashback Friday}

Yea, yea.... I know it's Sunday. Give me a break, Friday was a crazy day, and Saturday was too. Who am I kidding, this time of year is just crazy for us, so let me just pretend it's Friday, okey dokey?
The reason for all the craziness???

BASEBALL!

All three of the kiddos are playin'. Brock-Majors, Kaleb-Minors and Carlie-TBall (and I'm the lucky mom who happens to be co-coaching those cute lil' ones with my sister). Anyhow, that means 5 practices and 5-6 games a week for this family, not to mention all the other regular things like Scouts, Karate, Tumbling and Piano. Ready to jump back to the 80's?

1984 (I think?) Can you find me? Yep, I'm the hat-less girlie!
1985
1986
Don't those Beckstrand girls make fantastic sign holders?
1987- We moved onto girls softball, once again sign holders.

So, with all these years of baseball pictures, you'd assume I had some mad ball skills that passed onto my offspring, right? WRONG! In all honestly I stink at all sports, and really can't figure out why I played that many years of Little League and then played Church ball too? Seriously, I was the kid they stuck in right or left field and then prayed no one hit the ball there? The only kid I see taking after me is Miss Carlie who I'm finding cares more about how she looks in her uniform and gets quite upset when we try to correct her batting stance..... she likes her diva pose, dang it! (need a visual.... scroll down to the {Preschool Craziness} post, add a bat and you've got the T-Ball Diva!)

{Flashback Friday}

It's been awhile since I did a Flashback Friday. Yesterday was the kids last day of school and last night I was talking with some friends about Disneyland, both these things together got me thinking about my High school graduation and the trip that followed.
So lets Flashback to.......May 25-26, 1994

Graduation Night- 1994

After graduation I got the chance to go on a Senior trip to California. Remember, the trip where I got tricked into dating Derrick that I posted about here? Disneyland hosted a special Grad Nite for high school graduates and their chaperone's. It was an all night event and a dress up event. I'm so glad I decided to go...... we had a great time, made some fun memories and who knows if Derrick and I would have ever hooked up otherwise?

{Flashback Friday}

15 Years?
Where have they gone?

This weekend the Millard High graduating class of 1994 is having our 15 year reunion! That definately called for a Flashback Friday. Derrick and I were both part of that spectacualr graduating class, (and no, we were not a couple when we graduated), but unfortunately I don't think we have a copy of Derrick's Senior picture. I really can't believe it's been 15 years.....where did they go? So many changes, and yet in someways I still feel like that 17 year old girl? I have to honest and say I'm a bit nervous. I do have a bit of an uperhand though. See, I've been helping plan this little get together, and I know who's comming and who is not. I was in charge of tracking everyone down (some were easy and some were not), along with the invitations and the RSVP's. At least we had a small class, and when I say small, well, I mean 94 people small....yep, 94 graduates in the class of 94! I've spent a big chunk of today putting together a CD of "back in the day" music.....wow, that brought back some memories. It was fun, and hopefully the reunion is too!

I just had to add our Junior Prom class picture. Can you find me?

{Flashback Friday}

How can it be Friday again? If I don't get on the ball and start posting more, my entire blog will just be Flashback Fridays?!?

How can it be the end of the school year already? It was the kids, and the hubby's last day yesterday, but I swear it was just Christmas? And, really, how can it have been 15 years since I graduated from good old Millard High? Really, 15 years??? Lucky me, I get to help plan our 15 year reunion this year too!

Me and my parents ~ Graduation 1994 Since I seem to be suck on the subject of "how did that happen" today, here is one more. See that adorable little Miss in the above picture...that's my Skyler, she's not only my cousin, but I claim her and her sisters as"my girls". Sky was our flower girl at our wedding, and somehow she's all grown up now and it was her turn to graduate from good old Millard High on Tuesday night. How could that have happened?

Monna & Sky
(Sky has always called me Monna, not Mo like everyone else does)

Really how on earth can she be all grown up and ready to head to college? I've offered to let her stay and be my nanny, but for some reason she isn't jumping at that chance!?!

Is it just me that feels like the days just fly by, or do you all feel it too?

{Flashback Friday}

This weekend my mom, dad, sister, some of my Aunts and cousins and I are participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure in Salt Lake City. A few years ago, my sweet Aunt Suzi invited us to do this with her and her girls. It's become a mother's day weekend tradition, and this will be my third year. Our team name is Dot's Darlings in honor of my Great Grandma Dot Wyler. When I was just a young girl, Grandma Dot fought breast cancer and won, living many more years! I have so many great memories of this sweet little lady and am honored to do this each year in remembrance of her.

This is what I think of when I remember Grandma Dot, her sitting in her chair in the front room. She would always find us a cookie and we kids would line up on the couch and visit. All her family always got together for a big family party in August, for Grandma's birthday, usually in Grandma and Grandpas yard. As long as I can remember Grandma had that white curly hair and such a beautiful smile.

Here's to a fun weekend in honor of Grandma Dot!

{Flashback Friday}

Grandma & Grandpa Beckstrand, Carson, Kaleb & Brock ~ 2002
Great-Grandpa & Kaleb
I just love my Grandparents, they are such great people. Grandpa turned 83 last week and I still see him drive past my house every morning and evening to go feed the cows. They grow the most beautiful garden, and then bottle or dry almost everything from it. Grandma and Grandpa have both slowed down a bit over the last few years, but I think they could still run circles around me. I've learned so much from them over the years and I'm glad my kids can grow up right up the street from them!

I can't believe how little the boys are in this picture. How does time go so fast?

{Flashback Friday}

Lisa & Monica ~ 1978

This is one of my favorite pictures of Lis & I. Weren't we ADORABLE in our beautiful crocheted dresses made by Grandma Ainge? My Grandma made the most beautiful dresses for all the granddaughters and great granddaughters. I was so excited when we found out Carlie was a girl, because that meant she got a dress. What an amazing and talented woman my sweet Grandma was!

Derrick & Nick ~ March 17, 1979

I thought I'd add a flashback of Derrick today too. This picture was taken when Derrick was 3 1/2 and Nicholas was 3 days old. We don't really have all that many pictures of Derrick when he was a kid, but I thought this was a cute one!

Who do you think our kids look more like?

{Flashback Friday}

Are you ready for Flashback Friday Easter style? Well, here you go!

I'm not sure how old I was in this picture. I have such good memories of Easters past. Our little town always had an Easter egg hunt, we still do, I was in charge of it this year in fact. We also spent many, many Easters at Grandma and Grandpa Ainges cabin and I remember hunting for eggs there too with the cousins and my grandparents friends grandkids. Grandma Beckstrand always had an Easter Egg hunt for us too. What spoiled kids we were!

Kyle, Lisa, Shad & Monica ~ 1985
This particular year, at the town Easter Egg hunt, they also gave away live bunnies. If I remember right, my mom wasn't all that happy that I won Fluffy the bunny. If you look close you can see Lisa's pink basket. Grandma Ainge crocheted one of these for each of the Grandkids the inside was a cool whip container and I truly loved mine.
Grandma Jeannie took Brock to see the Easter bunny when he was about 14 months old. I can't believe how much he's grown up and how fast the years have gone!

Kaleb, Carlie & Brock ~ 2007
What cute kiddos! This is the same park that the picture of me and my brothers and sisters was taken at, fun traditions!

{Flashback Friday}

So, obviously I've been in a bit of a blogging funk..... I haven't had anything spectacular, or even interesting for that matter, to post, and comments have been few and far between, I'm sorry, I really do love you all, truly I do and I will do better, I promise! I was talking to a friend yesterday who said she loved it when I did Flashback Fridays. You know what? I did to! I loved to sort through old pictures, laugh at fun memories of long ago and then share them with you, so why has it been so long since we had a Flashback Friday? Well, wait no more...... This flashback is to Christmas of 1994. Derrick and I had been dating about 6 months, and I was a freshman at good old UVSC, we were married about 8 months later, and yep, we look pretty young! Fun times and good memories, enjoy!
